Puppy Size

.

I read a great email the other day called puppy size. A little girl and her mom went to the pound to get a new puppy. The girl looked at all of the puppies and couldn't find one that she liked. Day after day they kept going back to look for the right one. The girl kept saying that she wanted, "puppy size". So they looked at all the different sized puppies, but the girl still could not find the right one. Her parents started to get annoyed with her because they were going to the pound day after day. Finally they gave her one more day to find her puppy. SO she went in to look one last time as her mom waited in the lobby. She held each puppy in her arms and then said, "Sorry, you are not the one." Then she held one more puppy and this time she took more time with it. Then she yelled, "Mommy, mommy, this is it! Puppy size!!!" Her mom looked at her astonished and said, "But this puppy is the same size as all the rest." The little girl said, "No, not size...The sighs..... When I held him in my arms he sighed." She said, "Don't you remember when I asked you what love is you said love depends on the sighs of your heart. The more you love, the bigger the sigh. When you and dad come home from work and hug, you both sigh. I knew I would find the right puppy if it sighed in my arms when i held it." Then she said, "Mom, he loves me! I heard the sighs of his heart!"

I think this is the cutest story in the world and so accurate. People always ask me about the vortexes in Sedona and if they are healing or not. I have always said that any place, person or activity is healing if it makes you take a deep breath. If you look at a sunset and it makes you take a deep breath then that is healing! But from now on i am going to call it a sigh! Puppy sighs!!!!

This is a wonderful story. Sighing is something that I hadn’t thought about before. My dog does it all the time when she comes to sit at my feet. Thank you for the insight.

when i am stressed and then finally get to that place where i take a deep breath and let go, i always notice my dog does the same thing with me, at the same time. and when she relaxes with a deep sigh, i compulsively do the same thing with a feeling of relief. i know dogs are not for everyone but this is one subject i know a lot about and would prescribe to anyone with anxiety or loneliness. she is also teaching me about attachment and letting go because she will not live forever and i need to make peace with that.
